Buriram blitz! Champions rout Khon Kaen, top again
Reigning champions Buriram United returned to the top spot of the Thai League 1 standings after their 3-0 victory at Khon Kaen United on Thursday night.
Supachai Chaided, Lucas Crispim and Guilherme Bissoli were on target for the Thunder Castle, who picked up their fourth successive win to go top with 12 points.
They moved past Port, who also won all of their four games, due to their better goal difference.
Supachai fired home to put Buriram ahead a minute before half-time. Crispim made it 2-0 in the 65th minute and Brazilian striker Bissoli added the third with five minutes remaining.
"I knew before the game that this stadium is a tough place for visiting teams and we [Buriram United] had never won here," said Buriram coach Osmar Loss Vieira.
"This game was important because we wanted to get back to the top spot. It was important that we got the first goal just before half-time," he added.
Buriram will host Nakhon Pathom tomorrow in their fifth game of the season.
In another game on Thursday night, Bangkok United hammered hosts Nakhon Pathom United 3-0.
The Angels got their goals from Mahmoud Eid (34th minute), Richairo Aivkovic (43rd) and Pokklaw A-Nan (87th).
Bangkok United will play again tomorrow against visiting Lamphun Warriors.
There are four T1 matches today, with Nongbua Pitchaya hosting Muang Thong United, Sukhothai playing Uthai Thani, Rayong facing Nakhon Ratchasima and Chiang Rai United meeting PT Prachuap.
