ONE Friday Fights 80: Six KOs, four bonuses on thrilling night
A total of 1.4 million baht was handed out by ONE chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong on Friday night, with Chartpayak Saksatoon, Teeyai Wankhongohm MBK, Lamnamkhong BS Muaythai, and Petninmungkorn DrRatNamkangIceland picking up 350,000 baht each for their finishes.
The most impressive knockout perhaps belonged to Thailand’s Teeyai, who sat Yoddoi Kaewsamrit down twice in 60 seconds to earn victory in their atomweight Muay Thai clash.
Chartpayak had dug deep for a comeback win over Petnamngam PK Saenchai in their 127-pound catchweight Muay Thai bout.
He picked himself up off the canvas after a couple of powerful kicks in the first round to finish his opponent just 28 seconds into the second round with a barrage of punches to the head and body.
Laos native Lamnamkhong dispatched Anurak Wankhongohm MBK with ease in their 140lbs catchweight Muay Thai bout, knocking him down three times in the first round for an impressive TKO in less than two minutes.
Petninmungkorn earlier knocked out fellow Thai Komkrit J Power Roof Phuket in their 114lbs catchweight Muay Thai bout with two powerful right crosses 37 seconds into the second round.
In the main event, Yodnumchai Fairtex stretched his ONE Lumpinee win streak to six fights with a unanimous decision over Rak Erawan in their atomweight Muay Thai bout.
Aside from the bonuses, there were also impressive victories for Chabakaew Sor KanJanchai and Emily Chong.
Chabakaew handed Nongam Fairtex her first loss at ONE Lumpinee, putting on a clinic in their 110lbs catchweight Muay Thai bout.
Hong Kong's Chong had earlier enjoyed the perfect ONE Lumpinee debut, outclassing Japan’s Kokoz across three rounds of 117lbs catchweight Muay Thai for a unanimous decision.
Another bonus would have perhaps gone to Kongklai Sor Sommai, had he not missed weight for his 138lbs catchweight fight against Deniz Demirkapu, which was contested at a new catchweight of 142.6lbs.
The 25-year-old still proved he can never be counted out after ending his three-fight losing skid in emphatic style with a looping left hook knockout after just 105 seconds.
Britain’s David Cooke also missed weight for his featherweight MMA clash with Jang Seon Gyu, which went ahead at a 159.4lbs catchweight.
South Korea’s Jang rallied to secure a hard-fought split decision win with a late surge on his ONE Lumpinee debut.
Elsewhere on the card, Bektur Zhenishbek Uulu took a unanimous decision win over Avazbek “Ninzya” Kholmirzaev in their 130lbs catchweight MMA clash; Shoya Ishiguro beat Hiryu Niwa by unanimous decision in an all-Japan flyweight submission grappling contest; and Mavlonbek “Warrior” Kakhkhorov beat Thway Thit Win Hlaing by unanimous decision on his ONE debut in a featherweight Muay Thai fight.
