Nothing is better than the feeling of hitting the the ball right in the middle of the clubface, in the golf language we call it the 'sweet spot'. In reality the sweet spot is the 'no roll' spot, where the ball comes off absolutely straight, not spinning to one side or the other. This shot is usually hit accidentally, even though we're trying to do it every time we swing.
The average player will hit maybe three shots on the sweet spot in a round of golf. Even players new to the game hit the sweet spot now and then. The excitement resulting from it inspires all of us to go out again to feel this wonderful feeling once more. One does not try to square up the clubface. It just gets squared up in a good swing.
You're going to pull the ball to the left if you are faced with an uphill lie, so allow for it and aim a little more right. Try and manoeuvre yourself so you shorten your uphill leg and straighten the other, so that your hips become level. You will naturally play the ball back in your stance, but don't let your weight shift back with it.
Out of Bounds: The important question that should be debated at the 19th -- is not how good your good shots are -- it's how bad are your bad ones?
