Gino Lettieri admitted on Saturday night that Muang Thong United need improvement after witnessing his stars fire blanks again as the Kirins were held to a goalless draw at newly promoted Nongbua Pitchaya in a Thai League 1 clash.
Lettieri apologised to the Muang Thong fans who had travelled to the northeastern town of Nong Bua Lam Phu.
"I am sorry that my team keep repeating the same mistakes again and again," said the Italian coach.
"Our passing game inside the penalty area is not perfect. We will have to get the things right during this Fifa break.
"This game, we had at least seven chances but couldn't put the ball into the net once. We are just not good enough in front of the goal and this would have to change soon."
Former champions Muang Thong are in fourth place with eight points from five matches while Nongbua remain in the bottom half of the table with five points.
Former champions Chiang Rai United were restricted to a one-point haul following a 1-1 home draw with PT Prachuap on Saturday night.
Chinnawat Prachuabmon put the Beetles ahead in the 31st minute but home team defender Victor Oliveira conceded an own goal 10 minutes from time to let the visitors off the hook.
Third-placed Nakhon Ratchasima were also held to a 1-1 tie at Rayong in a similar fashion.
Dennis Murillo gave Nakhon Ratchasima the lead in the 20th minute but then turned villain by guiding the ball into his own net at 70 minutes to gift a point to Rayong.
In the only match to produce a result on Saturday night, Sukhothai's spectacular fightback fell short as they lost 3-2 at home to Uthai Thani.
James Beresford, Jhonatan Agudelo and Ricardo Santos had put Uthai Thani 3-0 in front before Claudio and Siroch Chatthong pulled a couple back for the hosts.
The league will take a break this week to allow the Thai national team take part in an international event in Hanoi from Sept 5-10.
